Comfort me with apples.
I'm all about a forked tongue and a dirty house.
...plus, i figure my only post in months should be a meme. What can I say, i prefer facebook.

..Tracy and I just watched "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle."
Sadly, neither of us have ever been to White Castle.
Knowing that you make semi-regular jaunts there, may we join you next time?

Absinthe, at least the sort containing less than 10 PPM of thujone, has now been legalized (or, more accurately, placed under the "wormwood-free" category) in the US. 124 proof Lucid is rolling out now.

..It's now Harry Potter day here at camp, and my copy of Hallows is being held hostage by the person who picked it up for me. Her copy is being delivered today, and she's 400 pages into mine. I better get her virgin copy, goddamnit.
Also, the whole camp has been split into houses (Slytherin, Griffyndor, etc). I, being difficult, have chosen my own team. Thanks to Erin's artistic skills, there's a large permanant marker Dark Mark on my forearm. I play by my own rules, damnit.
Also, last night pic, and the world's worst pic of me.

5.5 weeks down, 4.5 weeks to go.
Nothing all *that* interesting to report. Mosquito bites, burns, hanging out with girls.
Is it odd to be able to hold perfectly adult conversations with 17-year-old girls? Does this reflect well on them or badly on me?
Vaguely homesick.

Three entries in as many days. You should all be proud. Or bored. I can't quite fathom which.
Today's event was cute enough to make me go all girly and shit.
After putting some dry goods away this morning, I came back into the kitchen via the bakery/office door. Upon entry, Kirk and I noticed a squirrel sitting in the doorway between the bakery and the rest of the kitchen. We then spent the next 10 minutes getting the squirrel to go out the back door.
Fine and dandy.
About 45 minutes later, I'm walking by the screen door that separates the kitchen proper from the freezers, closets, and large double back doors, which are open. I see a ball of fur squeeze itself under the screen door about 3 feet from me, and it becomes apparent that a larger squirrel has carried a small squirrel into the kitchen either in it's mouth or on it's back. The larger squirrel then heads back under the door and proceeds to play in the pile of dirty rags awaiting washing outside the back door.
The smaller squirrel (I don't believe it was a baby, but I'm pretty sure it was juvenile) then proceeds to meander around the 3'x3' area down two steps in front of me. Exasperated, I attempt to shoo the squirrel back through the door. It seemed much more interested in climbing over and sitting on my foot than actually leaving. After about 20 minutes of trying to nudge the little bugger out, I went back in the kitchen to retrieve a towel with which to grab him and deposit him gently in outside. Perhaps sensing that playtime was over, he/she took the opportunity (and downtime) to wander back outside. Short attention span, perhaps?
Resisting the urge to leave a small pile of sunflower seeds or nuts outside the back door.

Day 6 or so of camp.
Still quite dull, still only 10 people or so, 'tho some of my favorite people will be rolling in tonight.
The only excitement so far today is the fact that, weather-wise, we're apparently heading for armageddon. Currently it's about 82 degrees with a bright, clear sky. Supposedly it might get very, very bad. Tornado watches and everything.
Hm. The only basement in camp to my knowledge is the one under the kitchen, which won't hold too many people comfortably. At least i'll already be in the right building if the shit does hit the proverbial fan.
Probably won't do anything anyways.

Of course.
Most of this weekend is summed up pretty well in Tracy's journal, so i won't bother to repeat it.
Other than that, in Minong, mostly empty camp, nothing exciting. There's only around 10 of us here at the moment, as the trip staff is off doing their bonding thing, and the counselors don't arrive until Sunday evening. A little quiet is actually nice to ease into the camp thing with.
Chances are at some point I'll promise to make lots of updates about the happenings around here (most of which won't interest anyone but perhaps Gina and AP), but, as always, I'll most likely fail. Such is life.

While I normally don't find death to be a cause to celebrate, I may have to make an excuse for Jerry Falwell.

There's just a little more oxygen in the world now not being wasted by someone like him.

After much debate, i think tonight's early V-Day dinner (i work tomorrow) shall be:
Roasted asparagus with scallion and fried egg
Yukon gold gratin with garlic and chevre
Loin of pork with apples and bitter chocolate
Handmade vanilla bean ice cream over mixed berry pie. I'm cheating and buying the pie :P
